Faster than a speeding bullet.
More powerful than a locomotive.
Able to leap tall buildings in a single bound.
Look!
Up in the sky!
It's a bird. It's a plane. No, it's.....
SUPER BROTHERS!!!!!!!!!
Oh my goodness were these little fellas fun to make!!!
These adorable and power-punching plush friends were made using the Superhero PDF Sewing Pattern from Dolls & Daydreams.
This was my first time using a Dolls & Daydreams pattern though I have drooled over all her cuddly creativeness for some time now. Did you know she first got started with designing doll patterns for a charity project? Yes, and she still keeps a running list of current Doll Drives you can participate in on her blog here. I love that!!!
Her collection of PDFs includes a variety of soft friends, but as soon as I saw this one I knew it was a must have!
And since I have 2 little boys, then that meant 2 Superheros.
This pattern doesn't leave anything out! The instructions are thorough and provide links to here blog with even greater details for specific features. The pattern also includes step-by-step photos for the entire process, making it simple for anyone with basic sewing skills to create their own unique version. The attention to detail makes these guys so special! They have their own glasses, mask, cape and superhero belt. The glasses and mask can also be worn by your child.....my boys immediately had to try both! :) Then they ran off with their new friends!
There is also close detail to the doll himself. His jeans have a neat waistband and faux fly and his hair the perfect part.
The face can be embroidered or painted. I hand embroidered the faces on these guys using the stem stitch. This was my first time using this stitch, but it was super easy and one I will most definitely use again! The designer provides details on her blog about varying stitches and links to videos at Mary Corbet's Needle & Thread. This site is a goldmine of stitching information! You'll want to bookmark it!
And I had the PERFECT fabric for their capes!!!
I think I'll have to make the boys something matching from this fabric next. So fun!
My only variation was rather than gluing the layers for the glasses and masks, I stitched them. Not perfectly, but I still like the effect.

@noreen claire, the superhero fabric is a Timeless Treasure print PATT# KYLA-C8159 It's been a while since I purchased it, but I think it might have been an etsy shop. Hope that helps! :)
