December 2012 - Rest & Reflection

My Little Man had a smooth surgery and is sore, but recovering well. Rightfully soaking up every extra moment of Mommy Snuggles he can get! Now the work of keeping him still for the next month as he heals begins! He is the busiest of my bunch, so should be interesting to say the least. :) Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and warm messages, I appreciate each and every one!

As with most, December is an especially busy and delightfully family focused month for us! It's also a time of year when we are in need of a little extra rest and a time when we often reflect on the year as a whole.

Following in that tradition, rather than hosting a specific sewing project for the month, I am looking forward to taking the time to REST with my family and REFLECT on all the exciting things that 2012 has held, including Hopeful Threads, and where I can imagine 2013 taking us.
My posts may be a bit more scattered and even sporadic than usual, but I hope you will visit and share your thoughts through your comments, as I will most definitely be looking for your insight on many things!

Lastly, I wish you and your families a month full of all things good and memorable.
Take a moment to be astounded by the abundant blessings of the simple and often overlooked, and keep your eyes open for ways to uplift, encourage and love those around you. I challenge you to join me and find ONE SMALL THING you can do this month to make a difference in the life of someone else....and likely have your life touched in the process. Will you take that challenge with me? If you do and are comfortable sharing, I'd love to hear your stories! Perhaps a perfect place to start is to consider the impact of One Small Thing someone else has done for you.

One Small Thing can = BIG THINGS!
It only takes a spark...

  2. Oh Kristy, I'm behind in my reading, so I didn't know your little man was going through such a rough patch. I'm so glad to hear he is recovering well.
Thank you for all your wonderful work this year, you are so giving and I hope this time of year gives back to you three-fold.
Best wishes to you and your family.

  4. Some of the small things I've done this month: spent a couple hours at the local animal shelter volunteering my photography to try to get the animals new homes (they posted the pictures to their adoption sites they use). Dropped off the stocking I made and some receiving blankets I made and some toys my mother-in-law and I bought for the local children's hospital. Took a whole bunch of plastic bags to a local used book shop that reuses them. Took a bucket of cookies to the fire station down the road as a thank you for all they do. Helped my church compile boxes of goodies for two fire departments and one police station. Gave bags of cookies to my friends to brighten their day. Sent a box of a couple gifts to friends who can't afford Christmas gifts on their own. Right now I'm just eagerly awaiting the email from Samaritans Purse with where my Operation Christmas Child boxes are being delivered! :)
