Sewing Essential - Measuring Gauge

A Measuring Gauge is a must have for any seamstress. I've always kept one like the bottom pictured by my ironing board. It's a necessity when creating hems and such and much easier than a measuring tape for this steps. The blue slide is adjustable so you can move it according to what you need. But the other one on top is new to me.
I found this handy little gadget at our Tuesday Morning for only 99 cents!
I wish I would have snagged more now since this is bound to get lost in all my fluff!
They were gone when I went back recently, but I'll keep an eye out.
It has measurements from 1/8" up to 2" as you turn it around and flip it over.
I'm a creature of habit, so it sat unopened on my table for sometime while I continued with my old gauge. Now it's out, broken in well and I really like it! :)
But either kind, a Measuring Gauge is a Sewing Essential for sure!

Happy Sewing!

I would strongly recommend getting a clip of some description and adding a cord to it. Tie one end to the clip and the other to the ironing board, then put the clip through the hole and it is attached to the gauge. Otherwise it might disappear into the toy box or elsewhere very quickly.

Thanks for the great suggestion, it's done! Just attached with ribbon....perfect! Why didn't I think of that!? :)

I use my measuring gauge all the time! Love the suggestion to tie it to the ironing board too!

I very recently inherited 2 of these and have had no clue how to use them!
