Pattern Review - Ruby Lou Doll by Sew Much Ado

You know those projects that have you talking out loud to yourself as you see them coming together and are so pleased with the results??? Yea, those are fun!!! And this sweet doll was one of those for me!
Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
The cuteness is almost too much I tell ya!

I have had so much fun making these little dollies!!!
They are especially cheery in the beautiful Sis Boom Happy Land fabrics too I think!

The pattern was so easy to follow. I have made a variety of soft toys and dolls and the assembly of this one was unique from others I had made. I prefer this method so much more too!
And another thing I really liked was how the pattern pieces not only had how many of each piece printed on it to cut, but also of what type of fabric, so when cutting I did't have to repeatedly reference the PDF.

Having tested for Abby/Sew Much Ado before, I know how attentive she is to details and how careful she is to make sure everything is just right. It's obvious that her standards carry through to all her patterns, as Ruby Lou is a top-notch doll making pattern!

My only variation to the pattern was using fleece for her hair instead of felt. I had it on hand, and as I've mentioned before, love the feel and durability of it. I think the fleece hangs well for her pony tails too. :)

The pattern also includes instructions for a reversible skirt for your doll. A note here....don't use flannel as one or both of your layers for the skirt. I did, and it makes the waistband too thick and it doesn't want to gather as nicely as it would have with 2 layers of cotton woven.
