Pattern Review - Ava Dress by Lily Bird Studio

It is no secret that one of my favorite pattern lines to sew from is Lily Bird Studio. Cecilia's fresh designs offer true one of kind, high quality, wearable results that I am always proud to see my children wear. The Ava Dress is no different.

The Ava Dress is one of her newest designs for babies and toddlers. The size range of the pattern is 0-24 months. It's a quick and easy sew, perfect for a beginner seamstress. It offers a great fit and the option of either being fully lined or reversible. And the button up back not only makes it easy to put on and off of little ones, it also adds a little extra touch since your buttons can become part of the design if you choose. I did! :)
Choosing the materials for my projects has become one of my favorite parts of sewing and creating of late. I knew from the start I wanted to use this delightful corduroy print that had been waiting neatly on my shelf for such a creation. I went back and forth through some various other cotton prints for lining until I found this Eliza Stripe from Jennifer Paganelli....it was PERFECT! I love Jennifer's striped fabrics and have them in several colors, they are so versatile and add just the right touch to so many projects. Then, I remembered I had these delightful pink gingham buttons from Riley Blake tucked away, and well, I knew I was ready to get sewing! :)

Another nice touch of this dress are the simple pleats on the chest. The pattern offers guidance on making these either straight or at an angle. I went with straight for this dress.

And while I took nearly 30 pictures of babe wearing it, this is the only where she was finally standing still. She spotted "Kitty" out the window. I think it was my favorite anyway! ;)

I'm in LOVE! :)

A sweet, little dress, Kristy. I hadn't seen this one. Love the large, gingham buttons!!! Thanks to you, I now have several Lily Bird Studio patterns, including this one.

Seeing the cute corduroy makes it easier for me to think about sewing fall dresses! This is really cute.
