Pattern Review - Blossom's Garden Party Skirts by Izzy & Ivy Designs

We recently celebrated a very special 3 year old birthday for our Lil' Princess. This meant mommy had the perfect excuse to make her some adorable new outfits! I have been wanting to try some of the sweet skirt designs in the new Blossom's Garden Party booklet from Izzy & Ivy Designs since it arrived, and so......

My first one to try was the "Fancy Forget Me Not" and I love it!!!

This sweet skirt is delightful! As was my sweet girl's squeal when she first saw it, exclaiming "Is it for me????" :)

One of my favorite parts of the pattern design is the added touch of the placket. I added an additional ruffle ribbon to the top of mine. Paired with some coordinating gingham and pink elephant buttons, I just love the accent it all provides!

I went on to create this chunky elephant applique T using the same coordinating fabrics, button and ribbon for the tail.
The booklet includes step-by-step photos and instructions for 8 different skirts. The pattern pieces for the skirts that require them are included in the back along with one of those famous Izzy & Ivy "Sprinkle" labels. Over 60 pages of full color photos and inspiration to spark your creativity.

While I love sewing with PDF patterns, it was very enjoyable to just decide I was ready to get started, pull this book out and go straight to creating! Very pleased with the way this skirt turned out and look forward to sewing the other designs included in the book as well.

Personal Notes: This booklet is PACKED with potential! With 8 unique skirt patterns and a lovely headpiece, you could easily sew an entire wardrobe from this one book.

Pattern Review - Monster Backpack from Muddy Max Designs (part of the Monster Mash pattern)

I already shared the adorable Nap Mat I made from the Muddy Max Designs pattern, Monster Mash, and now here's my lil' guy's Monster Backpack.
 Say "AHHHHH!"
The back includes a hanging loop too.
This is such a fun backpack!
My little boy couldn't wait to get his hands on it and immediately fill his monster's "tummy" with lots of books and cars and other things commonly devoured by monsters. :)
There is plenty of room to store all his necessary treasures for a day's outing and the straps nicely fit both my 5 year old and 7 year old.
Yes....it's no secret....
Very thorough instructions and many more projects provided in this pattern.

SUMMARY
Sewing Experience Level: Intermediate
Size Range: Any. Clothing in this pattern, up to child's 6
Special Techniques: Interfacing & Applique
Pattern Format: Paper (part of a pattern booklet)
Pattern includes a quilt, plush friend, nap mat, backpack, PJs & full size appliques.
Materials Used: Cotton woven prints, velcro, fusible fleece, applique adhesive
Personal Notes: This is such a super fun project! I listed the sewing experience level as intermediate since it is a detailed pattern. However, a confident beginner could easily complete this pattern reading carefully through the instructions and being patient with the process.

Pattern Review - Little Vicki by Izzy & Ivy Designs

Izzy & Ivy Designs has provided some of my favorite little girl sewing patterns for years now. Their fresh, unique and easy to sew styles set them apart and I'm always delighted with the outcome of sewing with their patterns. In addition to creating garments my girls love to wear, I also learn a lot of different sewing techniques from their patterns. I always appreciate that!
My latest Izzy & Ivy pattern to sew was the Little Vicki dress.
This bright & cheery dress was made to pair with the matching Mae doll I shared earlier this week as a contribution for the upcoming Love Without Boundaries Art Auction.

This dress is CLASSIC ELEGANCE!
The pleating on the front gives it such a crisp, tailored finish. While I did have to read the pleating instructions through a couple of times before getting it just right.....this isn't uncommon for me, I'm very much a hands-on visual learner.....this is probably my favorite part of the finished dress!

The hem band and rounded collar add just the right touches and allow for a complimentary fabric to be used in the dress also. The pattern also includes instructions for making the dress without the collar if preferred.
The back offers a button closure....another nice finishing touch!

The pattern has a size range for girls 1-6, and I can't wait to make one for my little sweetie!
The pattern also has a very sweet story behind it. It was designed and name for the designer's mother. :)

So, if you're looking for the perfect little dress for that spring and summer wardrobe, I highly recommend the Little Vicki!
Happy Sewing!

The fabulous ladies at Izzy & Ivy Designs have generously contributed a pattern bundle of FIVE of their hottest designs which includes:
AND

Told you it was INCREDIBLE!!!
Are you interested in winning?
Here's how to get your name in the drawing...
Sew with me this month!

That's right, check out October's Monthly Project and sew with me to support an amazing organization caring for children and families in Cambodia. They are in need of preemie diaper covers, so that is the project focus for the month.
Make at least 3 diaper covers, any kind, PUL, knit/crochet, fleece/up-cycled and mail them to me to be delivered by a friend who is traveling there early next month. Simple enough don't ya think? :)

When you mail your covers, please just comment here that you have done so, and I'll be sure to reply to let you know once they've arrived. You might also consider adding delivery confirmation for added peace of mind. Packages need to be mailed by October 28th to allow time enough for them to arrive to me and me to pack everything together to then deliver to my friend before he leaves, so that gives you 3 weeks.

3 weeks - 3 Diaper Covers and this could be yours!
 @ $125.00 VALUE!
COME ON!!! Let's love on some babies through our sewing machines!

A winner will be randomly selected from all those that send covers for donation. The winner for this giveaway will post early November to allow time for all packages to arrive.
(Sorry to my international friends, but since shipping is on me, this one is only open to US addresses. I hope that won't keep you from sewing along anyway since it's a great cause AAAAND....as there is something else planned that you can get in on a bit later this month!) ;)

My sincerest gratitude to Riley Blake Designs and Izzy & Ivy Designs for providing the goodies for this INCREDIBLE GIVEAWAY! Both of these companies have some exciting things going on, so I fully recommend checking out their blogs and following them on facebook!

Ready? Let's SEW!!!
