Sewing Essential - Elastic Threader

Ok folks, this one is new to me, but I'm IN LOVE!!!! :)
I've always used safety pins, large diaper pins and had even bought a bodkin for elastic threading, but nothing I've used has ever been as easy and effective as these...
Elastic Threaders.

I just happened across these while browsing the notions wall at JoAnn's the other day....I allowed myself to browse a bit since it was 50% off, and I'm so glad I did! This little set only cost about $1.50 and I love using them!

The package includes 3 sizes, 1/4", 1/2" and 3/4".
I'll be checking next time to see if they have 1" and up.

They are very easy to use too.
Simply slide your elastic through the opening like you would a belt. The little "teeth" in the openings hold the elastic securely while you thread it through your casing.

Now you are ready to thread your elastic through your casing. What I love most about this tool is the way it pulled my elastic through the casing smoothly, helping to prevent it from rolling. It's also large enough that you can easily feel it while guiding it through the casing, making it much less likely to loss your elastic and have to start over. Yes...I hate it too when that happens. :)
The only thing I wish were a bit different where the sturdiness at the end where the elastic is threaded. When it hits a snug spot in your casing, like where your seams are serged, it wanted to kind of bend where it is thinner here, concerning me that it would break there and then be useless. Maybe a little extra thickness on this end, or better yet, made of metal and it would be ideal!
Nevertheless,  I would certainly consider these Elastic Threaders a "Sewing Essential" now!

EDIT
Update 4/13....these little goodies have all broken during use. Luckily they were inexpensive, and I was so hopeful, as they worked well, just not very durable.

To find other tools and gadgets that I love, search "sewing essentials" in the sidebar. Simple things that make sewing even more fun!

I've never seen these, Kristy. I did buy a bodkin, but forget to use it and always use a safety pin instead.

These are awesome! I've never seen them before. I've always used the safety pin of hemostat method of threading the elastic. Thanks for sharing!!!

These might speed up the process for me on those dresses for Dress A Girl. I could spend hours looking at sewing notions, there are just so many cool things.
